Read, Read & Read…

I have started again reading a lot. I recently read “The Diary of A Young Girl” – Anne Frank. Apart from other things, I liked that the girl was honest in expressing that she liked her father more than the mother. And she wanted her father to listen to her and not being judgmental. Sometimes her father asked her to shut up. And she was very frustrated with that. She just wanted her to listen. This thing also forced me to think whether I have the quality of patiently listening and I found myself short on that. Sometimes, I should just listen so that other person can vent his/her feeling.

The other book which I have started reading is “The Life of Mahatma Gandhi”. I was really feeling low with general routines of life. This book has calming effect on me. On a lighter side, in initial years he looked as human as us :-)

Raaste

ye kahain aa gaye
socha na tha
is jindagi ki bhulbhaliya mein.....
idhar jaauin
udhar jaauin
kidhar jaauin
isse pooncho
usse pooncho
kisse pooncho..
wo wo kahta hai
ye ye kahta hai
iski sunta huin
uski sunta huin
kabhi lagta hai achaa sunta huin
kabhi lagta hai jyada sunta huin
raasta pata hai ya nahi pata
mujhko nahi pata
par lagta hai
raasta wahi hai
jis pe bachpan mein chale thei
aur bachpan mein dhoondha tha :-)

phir milenge

Ja raha tha sambhalte ladkhadate
Jindagi ki rah pe
Dur nazar aaya ek chehra
Kuch Jaana Pahchaana Kuch ajnabi
Dil bola aawaaz duin
Dimaag bola ki wo to ajnaabi hai
par aawaaz to nikal chuki thi
aur unke kaano par pad chuki thi
rahi ko humrahi mil gaya
aandhi tufaan ka saamna bhi hua
par saath wo thei isliye safar aasaan hua
acchanak unhe apni manzil ka khayaal aaya
hammein viyog ka paseena aaya...
hum kya kahte hum kya karte
aankhein kuch aur kahein
muskarahat kuch aur
kadam kuch aur...
soche wo lamhe, muskaraye,
gale mile aur
chal diye
ek nayi manzil pe
is aas mein ki agle nahi to agle mode pe phir miloge..........:-)

The Replacements

Recently, I watched a movie called "The Replacements". And as usual I don't remember the actor's name but for ur reference i saw the name of main hero.."Keanu Reaves"..It is a story of players who replace professional US football players. Professional players go on "strike" for increasing their fees....The league head asks his old coach friend to make a team. Coach "assembles" the team with players from different background. Keanu Reaves lost one league game and every one knows him for that. The coach was able to sell the point that "Every Athlete dreams of second chance and they are getting that". Keanu Reaves accepts the offer. Team consists of 1 prisoner, 1 jumbo, 1 deaf...The team starts clicking after 1st lost...Obviously they lost the 1st match ..........Then by their sheer love for the game , they reach the finals.........the league chair replaces Keanu Reaves with the professional player in the final match, which led to whole frequency mismatch of the team. And after first half the score was 17-0...which makes Keanu Reaves entry into the team easy......Keanu Reaves helps the team to win the match.......
My favourite dialogues......
Professional Player says to Keanu Reaves that you will always be remembered as a replacement player....Keanu replies "I can live with that :-)"
Keanu says " It is close to inspirational .......Pain Heals. It takes its time but Glory lasts forever"
Coach "There is no tomm for u, and that makes u very very dangerous people"
"Greatness no matter how brief , stays with a man"
It is a Good movie if u want to learn some team concepts and something abt heart :-)

Life and the art of spin bowling....

Spin bowling is an art.... You have to give the ball flight ....If you don't give flight, you will not get the wickets.......You may have good economy rate but not wickets.....One has to relax and bowl....One can't just rush into it......Similarly in life, certain risks are required and rushing into it doesn't help......if we don't take the risks, then we will not get success......Spin bowling is so enticing every one wants to hit it. A spin bowler also has to have a lot of mental strength to face some blows. Sometimes, it also requires to be just patient and keep trying. Spin bowling is also about continuously thinking, anticipating and keeping it interesting for self and others....Just like warne does.....
When i suggested this theme to a friend, he also gave some inputs.....like if a spinner bowls loose ball then it is going to be hit for six.....and fielders who are supporting bowler will just watch....similarly in our life game....if we become loose, our family and friends can just watch.....
So, lets bowl....with flight and keep bowling.........:-) its fun, its interesting but challenging also ;-)

Random thoughts :

I recently watched "Namesake". I liked the movie because it deals with contemporary issues which today's youth face in global world. Issues like name, marriage, death and cultural issues.

One thing, I appreciate from movie is that NAME is so important. A lot of people face huge problem explaining their name and explaining name is so much unnecessary pain. And sometimes name could be huge motivator also.

Another striking point was that the boy leaves his firang GF and goes for desi girl as wife. But it didnt work out. And he says "I guess having same background wasn't sufficient." Something to think about.

And when u come back from abroad, India really looks like too much of hustle and bustle, and not so modern. But when we live here and stay in our own choosy places, we find it modern. Because, we go to specific places and meet specific persons. So, when we see such scenes of hustle and bustle, we see it as biased depiction of India, but sadly it is true.

One of my friends living in US is also going through these issues of cultural differences, marriage, and death. I also watched "Last King of Scotland". It has a minor reference to Indian livings in Uganda and recently one Indian died in Uganda riots. It luks like movies are really becoming very contemporary.

There are lot of instances which don't make me proud. I am sad that when chips are down for Sachin, then media is pulling him into one controversy after another. My contention is that we all know Sachin is a genuine guy. So, we should trust his integrity and not unnecessarily pull him into controversies.

Another point is that in India, I am amazed to see that it is still such a big issue of hindu/muslim inter religion marriage. One guy and girl had inter religion marriage and society's reaction is like going back in times.

It is not that I was out of country for long. It is just that I was not following media. In holidays, with no work, I am watching TV a lot and world doesn't luk nice place. I guess, I am watching wrong channels :-)

What i know abt Art

What I understand about art, with my limited knowledge, is that artists try to add ambiguity in their work. Different people have different perceptions of ambiguity. This helps in more number of people connecting with the art. Artists know their boundaries and then try to break boundaries. Just to give an example, we know mostly in theatre artist will perform on stage but I have scene a lot of plays where suddenly someone from audience area will be part of play. So, first understanding the boundary and then breaking the boundary is an important aspect of art. We can say pattern instead of boundary. Breaking the patterns is another thing that artists try to achieve. For example, I saw one artist using both video and his manual voice in his performance. So, this type of merging and demerging is where artist can draw great audience attention. So, the most important fundae is to first understand and master the boundaries and patterns. And then c how one can merge, break and demerge these boundaries and patterns. So, a lot of learning and unlearning goes into it ........:-)

History is history...

I believe in the line "Bad/short memory is key to happiness" (btw this is not my justification for forgetting my purse, mobile etc every next day) . Somehow, bad experiences stick more in mind than good experiences.

From personal experiences, We make friends and sometimes we feel bad about their behavior or we get hurt. My tendency is to go into my own shell and stop talking to the person. Sometimes, I feel I am just dragging the relationship. I feel like victim. I gave so much into the relationship and now this is what I am getting in return. Oh my God, world looks as if I am "free falling" .....:-)

But the only solution is to stop reminding myself that I gave so much into my relationship. Hindi mein tabhi to bolte hain "neki kar dariya mein daal"...Don't stick to history....

A lot of times, if we forget one or two incidents, I guess we can build good relationships with a lot of people. Sometimes, we just stick to those incidents and ruin the relationships. I think we can avoid that.

And in professional career also, if we decide career decisions too much based on past, then I don't think it is a good idea. In today's dynamic times, it is important to continuously learn and unlearn skills. So, I think be light and live in present .....in every sense .....history is history....:-)

"Jonathan Livingstone Seagull" favourite lines....

I think these lines will have different meanings at different life stages.

"It's strange. The gulls who scorn perfection for the sake of travel go nowhere, slowly. Those who put aside travel for the sake of perfection go anywhere, instantly. "

"To fly as fast as thought, to anywhere that is," "you must begin by knowing that you have already arrived."

The gull sees farthest who flies highest.

"You have got to understand that a seagull is an unlimited idea of freedom, an image of the Great Gull, and your whole body, from wingtip to wingtip, is nothing more than your thought itself."

Read this book... :-)

General Update at my end....

Lets start with some good news. I have got one Job. The process is more important than result. I applied for two companies. First one, I was thrown just after first interview. So, that was an eye opener and reality check. Then I asked two of my friends to take my mock interview. It helped me a lot. It's always good to listen your own answers before the actual interview. It is also true that it is difficult to give mock interviews to friends but it has only positive affects. So, better give it.

Lets balance out life with bad news, I have developed neck pain. It is really painful. It has slowed me down a lot. Hopefully, I will recover with LOTs of REST.....

Latest accusation from some friends, that I am too sentimental. bhai learning experience hai maaf kar do. just learning to LET GO.....:-)

Read a fwd, that anyone who comes in life is mostly because of some reason. I also feel the same. People grow with each and every interaction. So, m happy and thankful to everyone who came into my life. And Gave me a different experience........

:-) bye for now, stay connected.......
PS. Happy New year !!!
