I recently watched "Namesake". I liked the movie because it deals with contemporary issues which today's youth face in global world. Issues like name, marriage, death and cultural issues.
One thing, I appreciate from movie is that NAME is so important. A lot of people face huge problem explaining their name and explaining name is so much unnecessary pain. And sometimes name could be huge motivator also.
Another striking point was that the boy leaves his firang GF and goes for desi girl as wife. But it didnt work out. And he says "I guess having same background wasn't sufficient." Something to think about.
And when u come back from abroad, India really looks like too much of hustle and bustle, and not so modern. But when we live here and stay in our own choosy places, we find it modern. Because, we go to specific places and meet specific persons. So, when we see such scenes of hustle and bustle, we see it as biased depiction of India, but sadly it is true.
One of my friends living in US is also going through these issues of cultural differences, marriage, and death. I also watched "Last King of Scotland". It has a minor reference to Indian livings in Uganda and recently one Indian died in Uganda riots. It luks like movies are really becoming very contemporary.
There are lot of instances which don't make me proud. I am sad that when chips are down for Sachin, then media is pulling him into one controversy after another. My contention is that we all know Sachin is a genuine guy. So, we should trust his integrity and not unnecessarily pull him into controversies.
Another point is that in India, I am amazed to see that it is still such a big issue of hindu/muslim inter religion marriage. One guy and girl had inter religion marriage and society's reaction is like going back in times.
It is not that I was out of country for long. It is just that I was not following media. In holidays, with no work, I am watching TV a lot and world doesn't luk nice place. I guess, I am watching wrong channels :-)

i like the way u write dude..u have ur own style.
Its something like frog in a well.Since we
are enjoying a good living standard and can afford the luxuries of life so we feel that the whole country has come up to that standard. But it is not so.India is indeed shining but there are places where omnious darkness still exists.
As far as watching channels is concerned you are indeed watching the news channels.
I feel that more than the people it is the media which should be held responsible for the chaos. They will do anyhing to boost their TRP's.News channels have turned into entertainment channels and words used by them are sufficiently aggressive to trigger a riot or dharnas.
I don't say media media should stop being aggressive they should be ,but they should realise their moral responsibility. The whole nation follows the media and they should bear this responsibility with utmost care and perfection.
